WEEK 5 - Day 3
God’s love delivers and protects

Introduction
The Psalms celebrate again and again in many variations the great wonder of God rescuing the chosen people out of Egypt as the primary, indeed, founding event in the development of the People of God.  God lead the people out of dire distress through the middle of the Red Sea and destroyed all enemies: the enemies which would prevent Israel from living according to the will of God.  This is the prophetic symbolism  of Easter: Christ leading his people out of the flood of iniquity, out of the "sea" of sin, affliction and death.  Once again we experience that it is only through understanding symbol language that this mystery discloses its fullness and depth.  Again and again artists have placed this event graphically before us as a visual sign of the mystery of God's love.  God does not shield the chosen people from trouble or from the assault of the evil one, but there is no darkness where God is not present with help and love.

Exercice
- Exodus 14: 21-31 (rescued, released)
- Identify with people who have been in the situation of "no way out" (in the true meaning of that phrase)...

- Identify with the way they experienced their rescue...

- Look attentively at God whose very self is revealed in these events; who shows what kind of God this is and how God handles His/Her own... .

- Linger in the presence of this God whose love is revealed through rescue and protection...

Variation
- Daniel 6:17-29 (Daniel in the lion's den)
- Matt. 8:23-27 (Stilling the storm) in connection with picture  (text and picture meditation)
