WEEK
12 - Day 4
The Holy Spirit
from whose fullness we receive grace upon grace
Introduction
In
his vision the prophet Ezekiel saw a vivid picture that offers a fruitful
symbol for meditation. Outside of the sanctuary, under the threshold,
water streamed forth that soon became a deep river. Wherever the
river flowed what was sick became healthy (Ezekiel 47:1-12). Also
the prophet Zechariah saw the living water which flowed out from Jerusalem
into the land from the East and toward the West, in winter just as in summer
(Zech. 14:8).
The
picture of living, flowing water can provide a background when we direct
our attention to the different gifts through which the Spirit of God seeks
to heal our life from within
Exercice
-
Galatians 5:22 (Fruits of the Spirit)
-
Look at
Jesus Christ and how he made these gifts visible in his life ...
-
Let individual
scenes that come to you pass by slowly as in a film ...
-
Linger
with one of the pictures gazing straightforward upon the Lord, praying
to become like him.
Prayer
of the body
Linger
with one of the gifts of the spirit that was named and try to feel how
it could be realized in your body: in your breathing or heart beat, in
your movements or gestures. Thereby become conscious of how God's
Holy Spirit can fill your entire soul and body placing your body at the
disposal of the Spirit in prayer...
Prayer
of simplicity
Limit
yourself to one of the words mentioned in Galatians 5:22 that is especially
important to you and repeat it in a breathing exercise (if you have no
resistance against that). Use it as a shield to protect you from
other thoughts.(see Massa)
