WEEK 12 - Day 6
In the Eucharist the Holy Spirit draws us closer to the source of life

Introduction
The Eucharist, or Holy Communion, in its symbolic meaning is already the source of strength and nourishment for our spiritual life.  Therefore, Jesus chose specifically the symbol of bread and wine, the daily nourishment of his day, in order to make clear through signs what he wanted to give us: food for our life.

Bodily Exercise

Prayer of simplicity
After you have received Communion take ten more minutes (that can be done later at home) and simply let the food received permeate you until it reaches every member and sense within.  In the same way let Communion that has already been received some time ago be "revived" again and become effective.

Comment:
Meister Eckhart  speaks here of the "spiritual communion" which a person can receive a thousand times a day and oftener insofar as he/she has "rightly prepared" themselves for it. Johannes Tauler  is  completely convinced that the full effect of holy communion happens only there where a person in inner composure  ponders a long time after receiving the "holy food" allowing themselves to be permeated by what has happened.
